Blair’s studio style is uncluttered and rich, with a touch of the whimsy of childhood. She uses her in-depth understanding of precise lighting techniques to evoke just the right mood for the image, be it dramatic and artistic, classic and traditional, or light-hearted and fun.

Blair is an accomplished photographer and journalist, originally from South Carolina, now living in Baltimore. Her love of photography was sparked during her career as a newspaper reporter during the 1990s. Blair was an enthusiastic crime beat reporter, and she often found herself on the scene of breaking news. While working double-duty as both reporter and photographer, Blair found that capturing just the right image of a news event was equally as exhilarating as reporting the story.

With the birth of her first child, her passion evolved toward children’s portraiture. What began as her efforts to capture the fleeting images of her son’s infancy – those wrinkled feet, that drooly grin — soon blossomed into a second career. Suddenly, parents were asking Blair to photograph their children, and Blair Blanks Photography was born. Blair brings to her photography the same driving passion that made her an award-winning reporter, and she is constantly challenging herself to create images that truly capture the emotion and essence of childhood.
